Broxbourne Borough Council leader Lewis Cocking claims that to staff and manage Lowewood Museum in house will cost an additional £70,000 per year and was the main reason for closing the Museum at the end of June 2020. However the Museum is currently staffed and managed by Epping Forest District Council under a service level agreement for £78,000. This sum comes out of the current annual Museum budget which is £108,000. We have asked him to explain why Broxbourne Council feels that it needs £148,000 to run the same service!
We would also like him to explain why he had no trouble spending £228,000 on refurbishing the bar in The Spotlight Theatre! This council run facility has been subsidised for over £160,000 per year in the past three years from council funds, so when will you be closing this loss maker Lewis?
IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THERE IS A RULE FOR ONE BUT NOT FOR OTHERS!
