Helen Toone Rosewell started this petition to Bromsgrove District Council

The proposal is to convert an extended bungalow and out buildings into a three-classroom non-residential independent school for 18 children with autism, plus ten staff members. There is no provision in this county for children with autism that do not fit in a mainstream school! My own daughter has just completed 100% attendance at her new school in Derbyshire after missing over 3 years of mainstream education in Bromsgrove! This specialist school has been life changing for her!! Why do the children with Autism in this county, that do not fit mainstream schools, have to travel so far for what is their basic right! It's not acceptable!! We need this school!  This area needs this school! Our children need this school! I need this school!

Bromsgrove councillors are going to discuss this proposal on Monday (August 5) but officers are disapproving of the plans on the basis of concerns over Green Belt development and poor transport links. The proposal is to convert a building that is already there! The children that will be attending this school will not be using public transport but will have the opportunity to receive an education, their basic right. This school has the potential to be life changing for 18 families. That could be your family or a family you know and certainly my family!
