Another life lost. Celebre D’Allen, a 13-year-old horse, died after being pushed far beyond his limits during a race he should never have been in. At an age when most horses should be resting and cared for, he was forced to compete - and it cost him his life.
Despite showing clear signs of fatigue and distress, jockey Micheal Nolan continued to push Celebre D’Allen after the penultimate fence, when the horse had nothing left to give and was visibly losing ground. This isn’t just a mistake - it’s neglect. The racing authorities acknowledged this by handing Nolan a 10-day suspension. But a short suspension won’t bring Celebre D’Allen back - and it won’t stop this from happening again.
This is not an isolated incident. It’s part of a system that values profit over animal welfare, speed over safety, and tradition over compassion.
