An innocent man is dying. He is thousands of miles from home with no family or friends around him. He desperately needs hospital care and treatment, yet noone cares.
What will it take before India wakes up and realises that they are not only destroying the lives of our innocent men and their families but they are taking away the right of medical treatment and life.
We have always focused our campaign on the Chennai6, but in reality there were 35 innocent men on board that ship and all 35 of those men from the captain to the cook were arrested and given exactly the same sentence of 5 years....all of them are languishing in a indian prison.
One of them desperately needs treatment for cancer.
For over 10 months we have appealed to the Indian courts to allow him out of prison to get to a hospital for treatment, to ease his pain and suffering and ensure he has the best possible chance at life. For over 10 months the courts have refused this innocent man treatment.
What will it take for all Governments involved to stand up for whats right? To stand up for justice. To stand up for our men and end this ordeal before it ends our men.
I've lost count of how many times I've been to India now, each and every time I'm met with smiles, with warmth and with compassion. I have a strange love for the country, one I never wanted or dreamed of having. I have made lifelong friends I now consider my family and love dearly.
I cannot understand how a country like India, filled with hope, love and compassion can turn a blind eye to the pain and suffering it's government are inflicting on us.
This isn't just about my fiance. This isn't just about 6 innocent British men. This is about 35 men: 12 Indian, 14 Estonian, 6 British, 3 Ukrainian.....and one very seriously ill man with cancer, being refused hospital treatment and suffering even more than the rest, weak and in pain behind the prison bars of puzhal prison.
We are approaching the supreme court of India, asking them to release him for treatment, let this innocent man recieve the treatment he deserves.
None of our men should be in prison. They are not a danger to anyone. They lived for nearly 2 years in india while awaiting trial. They did not flee as they had no reason to. Those men helped in the communities they were living in, they built friendships and believed that justice would prevail.
But the justice system failed them, the Indian government failed them, their own governments failed them.....we cannot fail them.
Please write to your local MPs, write to our prime minister and the Indian prime minister, write to amnesty organisations and human rights organisations. Help us help our men before its too late.
