What an incredible weekend!
There has been such a lot of build up and hard work by a huge number of people to make it all possible. We are so thankful to the organisers of the the Cpl Stewart McLoughlin March for inviting us to join them on the day, without your support we would never have made the impact we did (if you havent signed their petition on change.org then please do) and protest outside of the Indian embassy on Friday had a massive turnout.
It was joined by some of the men in prison in India who carried out a hunger strike to coincide with the protest in the UK (the hunger strike is now over and all the men are safe and well.)
On the day we were presented with a cheque for £2,750 from The Pegasus Appreciation Group from the fundraising they have done for the #Chennai6. An incredible amount of money and we thank them for their efforts and commitment to our campaign.
We also have Jordan Wylie who has today completed a 10k run in Chennai and has raised over £4,000 for the men in sponsorship. Jordan has put in so much planning and effort for this run and we are so greatful for his continued efforts to help our campaign. This weekend has been covered by BBC World Service, Radio 4, The Kaye Adams Show, ITV Border, Tyne Tees and Yorkshire, BBC Look North, STV and BBC local radio, along with many local newspapers.
We are so thankful to everyone who has supported us, sent postcards to the Indian embassy and Downing Street, attended the protest and sent us well wishes for the day. We are also thankful to those who gave speeches at our protest at the Indian embassy: Big Phil Campion, The Mission to Seafarers, David McMullen, our lawyer Stephen Askins and last but not least, our very own Lisa Dunn!
Please keep liking and sharing our Facebook page and petition and inviting your friends to do the same. It would be great to get it to the half a million mark before we take to the streets of london again. This campaign will not rest until we get our men back from India; they have to live this miscarriage of justice every second of every day, and in turn, we will fight for them every second of every day until they come home #Chennai6
