Earlier today I posted a updated with the title "free a balloon to free our veterans"
I asked people to free a balloon to symbolise the freedom of our men. Take a picture of it, and post it on social media with the hashtag #freeourveterans.
We had spoken about doing rallys, spoke about marches, spoke about lighting candles etc....But they all seemed very angry, negative or morbid ideas. The idea of releasing a balloon seemed up lifting and one that anyone could participate in, I was tired of being sad, tired of being angry, I simply wanted to do something lighthearted to bring people together on social media and raise the plight of our men....
Instead I was met with angry messages, Messages calling me Idiotic, messages suggesting I want actively want to go out my way to harm animals, negative messages, not only that but this single update has ignited more passion in people about balloons than any update I've ever posted about innocent men having their freedom taken from them and been thrown in a hell hole.
I genuinely felt this was a nice thing to do, a simple thing, a happy thing, and something that would really grab the attention of the public and media. If you didn't want to harm the environment, why not just free the balloon in your home, or take a picture of you and a balloon with the #freeourveterns.
The support and comfort the men, myself and the families have had from this petition has been incredible. This petition means so much to so many people, and it has literally broke my heart tonight reading some of the messages and comments. Its taken away from the real cause, and is full of negativity. Something the men and ourselves have in abundance just now.
Attached is a photo of our son, his father has met him once when he was 3 months old....This picture was my inspiration. Our son is my Inspiration. The joy this balloon brought to my son, and the joy the picture brought to his father in prison, was the joy I hoped to spread on the 7th of July with our #freeourveterans campagin. Who knew my son was holding such a deadly weapon.
Blow some bubbles to Free our Veterans- just doesn't have the same ring to it. So Congratulations you've won. There will be no balloon selfies along side #freeourveterans trending on twitter. Our planet will not be sacrificed by me, and we can all sleep well tonight.
