Since announcing the full-time return to school for students in British Columbia, it has also been shared that face coverings/masks will not be required. The provincial government is putting up $45.6 million to “ensure safety measures, including increased cleaning of high contact surfaces, and an increased number of hand-hygiene stations and the availability of masks”. What is the point of not making masks required and risking the health of so many people? The goal of this petition is to make masks required for students in British Columbia EXCEPT FOR those who have legitimate health problems, which make it difficult for them to breathe while wearing a mask (which would have to be proven by a doctor's note).

UPDATE:

There has been an announcement made that masks will be required in high traffic areas of schools, such as hallways, and places were physical distancing is not possible. HOWEVER, regardless of the rise in the number of cases in British Columbia, masks in classrooms are still optional, which is why I am updating the petition goals, to make our goals more clear. Please continue sharing this petition with those who have not signed yet.
