Dear Supporters I started this petition one week ago and I want to start by thanking all 45,000 of you for signing. The recent Pride weekend has brought attention to our campaign as LGBT groups have questioned how BA could be sponsoring Pride but be enabling deportations / removals of LGBT asylum seekers. In an earlier update I wrote to you about the impact of families being torn apart by the Home Office. The article below demonstrates the trauma and lasting impact on children. In this case the mother of the children was abroad at a funeral when the Home Office detained their father meaning he couldn't collect them from school and they suddenly found themselves placed in care. It's disgusting that the Home Office us punishing innocent children with no regard for the lasting psychological impacts of their action. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/immigration-child-separation-parents-uk-home-office-kenneth-oranyendu-family-a8431731.html I have another e-action to suggest to keep up the pressure. Please email the Chief Executive & Chair of British Airways Alex Cruz to let him know you have signed this petition and to request BA stops helping the Home Office to deport people. alex.cruz@ba.com Yesterday my choir, Nawi Collective had the honour of performing on the main stage at UK Black Pride where we were reminded of the persecution around the world faced by many LGBT people. I am sharing with you our performance of the Labi Siffre song; Something Inside So Strong. Please help to build our collective strength by letting your networks know you have signed this petition & asking them to do the same. Thanks & Best Wishes Zita Zita Holbourne; National Chair, BARAC UK
