After October 7 and the humanitarian catastrophe of the Gaza war it is urgent that we do not allow terrorism or political extremism to dictate the future. We call on a future British government to do all its power to promote a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.

The next British government should commit itself to working with its allies to recognize the State of Palestine and within the UN to encourage all states that have not done so to recognize the State of Israel. Only when Israelis and Palestinians exercise self-determination within secure sovereign states will there be a sustainable peace.

People who signed petition will also be asked to send this letter to their candidates, to make sure they are committed to the right of self determination for both peoples, for a future of two independent states.
