Bristol Farms stop selling eggs from cages
The Issue
As an animal-lover, you can imagine how I felt after learning my favorite local grocery store, Bristol Farms, is currently refusing to end its support of intense confinement. Bristol Farms says it aspires to exceed customer’s expectations through extraordinary service. However, selling eggs from farms that confine hens in tiny cages does not coincide with our expectations!
Bristol Farms sources its eggs from hens who are unable to turn around and even extend their limbs due to this cruel caged practice. These intelligent birds display higher cognitive complexity than both cats and dogs. It’s time for Bristol Farms to get on board with the times and end its association of inhumane cages altogether!
In 2016, nearly all major retailers are moving away from this outdated practice of confining hens. Walmart, Whole Foods, Kroger, and even McDonalds, have committed to completely move away from cruel cages. So why is Bristol Farms content with falling behind its competitors?
Please sign my petition to let Bristol Farms know that we will not shop at its locations until it produces a timeline to completely eliminate the use of cages in its egg supply chain!
