Save our Hospitality Industry on the Brisbane River

The issue

Well our lively hoods have been threatened and our business told to leave Dockside along with other commercial ventures at Dockside. Say goodbye to Prawnster, Go Boats and the Charter vessels. Being evicted with nowhere to go is not something we want to face after surviving the onslaught of Covid. Staff will lose their jobs and personal bankruptcy looms. Our hospitality industry contributes around 300 jobs to the local community and bring in tens of thousands of visitors to our city centre who also book rooms, eat out, visit venues, the list goes on. With the Olympics on our doorstep visitors to Brisbane will be crying out for river venues. Every other city supports their marine hospitality industry except Brisbane and we have the best river in all the cities.
We’re not done yet and will fight to the bitter end or until a suitable solution is found. Simply we have been asked to vacate Dockside. Where do we go? BCC don’t want to know, and just want this issue to go away.
So much for the River City.
