Dear Find Ontario Missing Boys Community,
I’m writing to you today with an urgent update that demands your attention and your voice.
16-year-old Jay'siiah Webb-Long from Brampton, Ontario, has now been missing for over five months.
On March 16, 2025, his mother, returned home from work to discover her son was gone. Security footage showed him leaving the house around 10 a.m. with a duffle bag. He later responded to messages saying he was “at a friend’s,” but never returned home.
For five days, his mother pleaded with authorities to take his disappearance seriously. She was told that because she was still in contact with him, they would not act. Only after his communication stopped and she followed up on April 20th did an officer take a statement and file a formal missing persons report.
A month later, the police finally issued a media release.
Now—after months of delay and inaction—the RCMP Major Crimes Unit in Saskatchewan has taken over the case. They have confirmed what we feared: Jay'siiah’s disappearance is now being investigated as “suspicious.”
He was tracked to Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan, over 2,000 km away from Brampton, Ontario. The home where he was believed to be staying was later evacuated due to forest fires, and Jay'siiah has not been seen or heard from since May 16.
📣 Why this matters:
Jay'siiah’s case is a devastating example of the systemic failures we continue to see when it comes to Black youth going missing in Canada. His mother did everything right—she reported him missing, followed up, pleaded for help—and yet the response was slow, dismissive, and dangerously delayed.
We must demand national visibility, justice, and accountability for Jay'siiah and for every missing Black child in this country.
