Petition updateBring Steve Allen back to LBCWe force LBC to pay tribute to Steve: FINAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Paul CampaignsLondon, ENG, United Kingdom

Hi all,

We received this letter by post from LBC in recent weeks - following the successful September delivery of our petitions into the hands of five Global bigwigs at the corporation's Leicester Square headquarters - but frankly didn't have the heart to share it until now.

Why didn't we share LBC's response to the petition until now?

  • We're only human like you.
  • There was an incredible amount of negative/cynical/offensive feedback about this campaign, not only on social media, but actually in the comments section of this petition.
  • After all the people telling us the petition was a waste of time in various different charming ways, I didn't have the heart to share this letter from LBC so that people could find something negative to say about that as well.

Similarly, you may notice that whenever England plays a match, including last night's game in Macedonia, win, lose or draw, the moaners are out in force online. What are they actually upset about? I'd guess it's nothing to do with the match or our petition - but that's just my view. Don't know about anyone else, but I support my national side no matter what.

Despite all of that, the majority of you have been great, all the way along since we started this campaign back in February!

I hope that those of you who aren't having a bad day, and looking for something or someone to take that out on, can enjoy this acknowledgement from LBC of all our hard work in campaigning for Steve.

As you'll see, the letter officially recognises:

  • Steve's "enormous contribution to commercial radio over the past 44 years".
  • The significant time and tireless effort we put into the campaign.
  • You: as it states that our voices (well over 7,000 of us) have "certainly been heard".

You can make up your own minds about what the letter means - but it doesn't rule out bringing Steve Allen back to LBC.

And if the Global suits do consider bringing Steve back to LBC, our petition will certainly be a part of their considerations - one big reason why it's important to do these things.

Why else was it important to run this campaign?

Whether or not Steve ever wanted to return to the station, through this petition we have shown LBC that they can't just quietly drop their top presenters without a massive fuss being kicked up.

That is the second reason that it was important to launch this petition - and that objective has been achieved.

Thanks for all your support and as I assume this will be the final update of 2023, have a great Christmas.

-Paul and team.
