Bring Ropley bells back and engage new audiences with the heritage of bell ringing

The Issue

Please show your support to help us put the bells back in the tower at St Peter's Ropley, following the disastrous fire of 2014. The church has now been rebuilt and the tower is ready to receive the six Gillett & Johnston bells, which were regarded as the finest ring of six bells in Hampshire.

Bells have rung out of this tower for well over three centuries, but it has now been silent for nearly ten years. If we don't raise the money soon, it could be another ten years, possibly much longer before they ring again.

The bells will be rung from a new ground floor ringing room, in full public view. With toilets, a kitchen and a meeting room Rolpey makes an ideal venue for training new ringers, not just from Ropley, but further afield, and also educating members of the public about the heritage of bells and the arts of change-ringing on tower bells and tune-ringing on handbells.

You can also support the project by making a payment direct by BACS to St Peter's PCC Ropley,  a/c 70072299 sort code 51-61-09 and using the reference BELLS.
