INVITATION: Trainings to Implement PB on Your Campus!!
Feb 6, 2016 — Student Organization for Democratic Alternatives (SODA) formally invites you to two trainings for implementing participatory budgeting at your CUNY campus. The trainings which will be provided by The Participatory Budgeting Project.
RSVP form at the end of this email.
The first training is a PB 101 Workshop, which will take place on Friday, February 19 from 9am to 12pm in the Patio Room of the Dining Hall at Queens College. We will have breakfast and some networking/mingling for the first hour, and the last two hours will be the workshop itself. Doors open at 8:30 am and it is OPEN TO ALL CUNY STUDENTS. We welcome and encourage you to invite people throughout CUNY.
The second training is a PB Steering Committee Training will take place on Friday, February 26 from 9am to 12pm in the Patio Room of the Dining Hall at Queens College. Doors open at 8:30 am, and we are looking to provide food. However, the trainings will run for the full three hours. The content of the training remains to-be-determined in its exact specifics, but it will be any combination of "facilitator training," "proposal development training," "outreach workshop," and "writing the rules" (i.e., writing the rules and parameters of the PB process). The second training is much more Queens College geared, but we are hosting Brooklyn College students as well, since students there are in the midst of their own PB process. For this training we welcome CUNY students/faculty/administrators from other campuses who are currently/planning-to functionally operate together as a Steering Committee for their own campus PB process.
