The issue

As students who care deeply about the quality of our education, my peers and I are concerned about the increasing shift towards online classes. We believe that our university experience should encompass more than just our academic learning—it should also include the rich, engaging, and interactive environment that in-person learning offers.

The transition to predominantly online courses has not only affected the quality of our education but has also diminished the value of the campus experience for which many students pay extra. Online classes, while convenient, often lack the immediacy and personal interaction that in-person classes provide. This lack of engagement can lead to a sense of isolation and disengagement from the educational community.

Studies have consistently shown that in-person learning leads to better academic outcomes for many students. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, students in face-to-face classes tend to score higher in assessments and report greater satisfaction with their courses compared to their peers in online settings.

Moreover, the current reliance on online learning can disadvantage students who may not have access to stable internet connections or quiet spaces to study, exacerbating educational inequalities.

We call upon our university administration to review and revise the current policies surrounding course delivery modes. By offering more in-person classes, the institution can ensure that all students receive the education they deserve—a comprehensive, engaging, and fair experience that justifies the financial investments made by us and our families.

Please sign this petition to support the cause for a more enriched and equitable educational environment through increased in-person classes. Your support is crucial in encouraging the university to take action and make necessary changes to enhance our academic journey. Sign now to help us promote a balanced and effective learning experience for all students.
