Bring IMAX to ODEON Lee Valley
The Issue
ODEON Lee Valley has been my local cinema for years, and it’s where I choose to watch most films. As an existing ODEON Luxe cinema, it already offers a premium experience that attracts customers from across North and East London. However, for major blockbuster releases, I often have to travel elsewhere to experience films in IMAX.
Lee Valley is uniquely positioned to become an ODEON Luxe + IMAX destination. Its excellent location, free parking and wide catchment area already make it a popular choice for cinema-goers from Enfield, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Barnet, Hackney, Cheshunt, Broxbourne and parts of Essex and Hertfordshire, and neighbouring East London areas. With the continued growth of the Meridian Water regeneration project, which will bring around 10,000 new homes, thousands of jobs and significant investment to the area, demand for premium leisure experiences will only continue to increase.
Introducing IMAX would build on the strong foundations already in place. Rather than creating a premium destination from scratch, ODEON would be enhancing an established Luxe cinema with one of the world’s most sought-after cinema formats. This would create a flagship Luxe + IMAX venue capable of attracting visitors from across a much wider region.
From a business perspective, an IMAX screen would help ODEON retain customers who currently travel to other cinemas for premium screenings while attracting new audiences for blockbuster releases. Premium formats also encourage higher ticket revenue, increased food and beverage sales, and stronger customer loyalty through repeat visits and ODEON Limitless memberships.
This isn’t simply about upgrading a cinema, it’s about investing in a location that already has the accessibility, customer base and future population growth to support it. An ODEON Luxe + IMAX at Lee Valley would strengthen ODEON’s presence in North and East London while providing local communities with the premium cinema experience they currently have to travel elsewhere to enjoy.
