# BRING HER HOME: Free a Legal Resident Illegally Detained by ICE

A legal resident of the United States with a valid government-issued green card has been illegally detained in an immigration detention facility in Arizona for months. We demand her immediate release and a full investigation into ICE’s unlawful actions.

Since August 2025, an immigrant woman with a lawful green card—meaning she has the legal right to live, work, and build a life in the United States—has been held in an Arizona detention center. She did not commit a crime. She did not enter this country illegally. She is a legal permanent resident.

Yet ICE arrested and continues to detain her despite her valid legal status.

 HER STORY

She is the wife of a small business owner in Los Angeles. Together, they built a thriving local enterprise that serves our community and provides employment. They are part of the fabric of what makes our neighborhood strong. She is a productive member of society. She belongs here.

When ICE agents took her in August 2025, she had valid documentation in hand—a government-issued green card proving her lawful permanent resident status. No immigration judge ordered her detention. No criminal charge justified it. Yet ICE has held her for months while our legal system becomes increasingly complicit in what appears to be an unlawful, unconstitutional detention.

THE CRISIS IS REAL

This is not an isolated case. Federal courts have overwhelmingly rejected the Trump administration’s mass detention policies, with over 300 judges ruling them illegal in more than 1,600 cases. Yet ICE continues to arrest and detain tens of thousands of people, ignoring judicial orders and defying federal law.

Federal data shows that ICE is now detaining nearly 66,000 people at a time—more than ever before in U.S. history—with roughly 70 percent having no criminal convictions. The system is spiraling out of control, sweeping up legal residents, visa holders, and asylum seekers who have done nothing wrong.

When legal permanent residents can be detained indefinitely without cause or due process, we have abandoned the rule of law.

 WHAT WE DEMAND:

**We call on you to:**

1. **Demand her immediate release.** She is a legal green card holder. ICE must release her now.
1. **Investigate this unlawful detention.** How was this allowed? Who authorized it? What other legal residents are being illegally held?
1. **Hold ICE accountable.** Exercise your authority to conduct oversight of ICE detention facilities and demand transparency.
1. **Support legal reform.** Work to strengthen protections for legal residents and ensure due process in all immigration detention.
1. **Stand up for immigrant families.** Our communities are stronger when families are together and immigrants can contribute openly to society.

-WHY THIS MATTERS

When we allow the government to detain legal residents without cause—to hold them indefinitely while they wait for an immigration judge, to deny them bond hearings, to ignore their valid documentation—we are all less safe and less free.

Her family is separated. Her business is suffering. Our neighborhood has lost her contribution. And our legal system has failed its most basic test: protecting the rights of those within our borders.

She has a green card. She is legal. She must be free.

**Every signature on this petition sends a message to our elected officials: We will not tolerate unlawful detention. We will not ignore the Constitution. We will bring her home.**

THE LEGAL ARGUMENT:

Green card holders are legal permanent residents. Immigration agents cannot revoke legal status—only immigration judges can, after a court hearing. If she has a valid green card, her detention is unlawful. Federal courts have repeatedly ruled that ICE is violating the law by detaining people without proper legal proceedings.

She deserves her day in court. She deserves due process. She deserves her freedom.

Bring her home. Free legal residents. Demand justice.
