Bring Demonte “Tay” Williams Home: A Community’s Plea for Clemency
The Issue
Bring Tay Home: A Petition for Executive Clemency for Demonte “Tay” Williams
We respectfully ask Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves to consider executive clemency for Demonte “Tay” Williams, including consideration of a commutation that would allow him an earlier opportunity to return home to his family and community.
Tay is more than an incarcerated individual. He is a son, father, brother, uncle, and a deeply loved member of his family and hometown community. His incarceration has affected many people who continue to stand beside him and hope for an opportunity for him to come home.
Tay has strong support throughout his hometown community. Former teachers, pastors, friends, family members, and other community members are willing to write letters on his behalf and support him as he moves forward with his life.
We believe in accountability, but we also believe in mercy, rehabilitation, redemption, and second chances. Executive clemency provides an opportunity to consider the whole person, the circumstances of the case, the time already served, and the support available to that person upon returning home.
We respectfully ask Governor Reeves to give Demonte “Tay” Williams’s case meaningful consideration and review him for executive clemency.
Please sign this petition if you support giving Tay an opportunity for clemency and a second chance. Help us bring Tay home.
