Bring Dedicated Pickleball Courts to Evanston!

Bring Dedicated Pickleball Courts to Evanston!
The Issue
To the City of Evanston:
To the City of Evanston:
We, the undersigned, petition the City of Evanston to implement a three-part plan to bring dedicated pickleball courts to Evanston.
Part 1: Allow Tennis League Play and Tournaments Priority at Lovelace Park
The Evanston Parks and Recreation Department will adjust camp and lesson schedules to facilitate regular tennis league play and
tournaments which are currently being scheduled at James Park.
Part 2: Resurface Four Tennis Courts at Leahy Park
This expands the city’s available courts for camps and lessons and creates four more top-quality courts for regular tennis play
and league play that require only four courts.
Part 3: Convert the James Park Tennis Courts into a Dedicated Pickleball Facility
We propose the conversion of the existing tennis courts to feature:
- 14 standard pickleball courts that meet regulation size and guidelines
- 1 wheelchair-accessible pickleball court to ensure inclusivity for all members of our community
This cooperatively developed plan has been created jointly with the tennis community, pickleball community, neighborhood
communities and the Evanston Parks and Recreation Department.
We urge the City of Evanston to consider this request and invest in both tennis and pickleball facilities to support
access to fun, safe, social, and community-building recreation.
