Put an end to the tragedies on Spring Road in Gainesville GA

The Issue

On June 27, 2023, at approximately 9:10 PM a life was cut short by a tragic hit and run on Spring Road in Gainesville Ga. Brian Baker, 34, has grown up in that area all his life. He knew that area well and he was always walking it. That night he was walking to the store to get milk and was killed because of someone flying down the road. After his funeral all his family and dearest friends went to the site to pay their respects and honor him. We noticed that the mileage of the road which is 0.499 mi from Browns Bridge to Skelton road with a speed limit that is 25 mph from Browns Bridge to Skelton and then from Skelton toward Browns Bridge it's 30 mph. There is no room to build sidewalks but we could have speed breakers put in to help slow people down. There are no street lights to help bring light to the areas to clearly see pedestrians walking. If you know this area, then you know this road is curvy and view gets limited. You also know that people fly down this road without a care in the world for their surroundings. We want the speed limit changed from 30 mph to 10 mph. We also would like to have speed bumps and street lights added as an extra precaution for safety in the area! Brian's life was ended way to soon. He was taken from his mother and a mother should never have to bury their child. He was taken from his four children who he loved more than anything in this world. He was taken from his sister and brother. And he was taken from so many others who loved him. Brian never met someone that he didn't touch their life in some way. Everyone he met he called friend. For his life to be taken over someone flying down a road not thinking of the consequences of their actions is not right. Brian should be here today.

Almost 3 months to the day another life was ended too soon by another tragic hit and run on the same road that claimed the life of Brian back in June. On September 25, 2023 at approximately 8:30 PM Omer Morris known to his family and friends as Lee was struck and hit by a SUV hauling a trailer while walking on Spring Road. He suffered severe injuries and was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and died. Another life taken way too soon by someone being careless and flying down the road without a care in the world for their fellow human beings. Another family struck with tragedy.

They should be here with us. Their lives mattered and their family and friends will not stop until the justice they deserve is served. We fight for Brian and Lee ❤️
