Senior year is a special time that students only get to experience once. One tradition that makes senior year more memorable is senior quotes. They give students the opportunity to express their personality, share something meaningful, or leave behind a funny memory that represents them. Taking away senior quotes from the entire senior class because of something that happened last year feels unfair.

I understand that the school has a responsibility to make sure everything included in the yearbook is appropriate. However, instead of completely removing senior quotes, I believe there should be clear rules and an approval process. Quotes could be reviewed by staff before being published, and anything inappropriate, offensive, or against school guidelines could simply be rejected.

It does not seem fair for an entire class to lose a tradition because of the actions of one student from a previous year. The majority of students should still have the opportunity to participate responsibly. Many seniors would use their quotes to represent their personalities, friendships, memories, or experiences throughout high school.

Bringing back senior quotes does not mean the school has to give up its standards. The school can have guidelines while still allowing students to have a voice. There are ways to prevent inappropriate quotes without taking the tradition away from everyone.

Senior year is something we will never get back. We have spent years at this school, and our senior year should be about making memories and celebrating how far we have come. I hope the school will reconsider this decision and give our class the opportunity to have senior quotes, with reasonable guidelines in place. One situation should not take away a meaningful tradition from an entire graduating class.
