The Issue

Buc-ee’s has brought smiles, snacks, and serious jobs to every community it touches—so why not Lamar, Colorado next?

As residents and supporters of rural Colorado, we believe Lamar is the perfect home for Buc-ee’s second location in the state. While the Palmer Lake proposal has sparked community backlash and raised environmental concerns, Lamar is asking for this kind of opportunity. Mayor Kirk Crespin has already extended a warm, public invitation to Buc-ee’s, and now it’s time for our voices to join his.

Lamar is a hardworking, welcoming town located on U.S. Highway 50, a key east-west corridor in southeastern Colorado. It’s strategically positioned between Buc-ee’s existing locations in Johnstown, CO and Amarillo, TX—offering a natural link for travelers and truckers alike. More importantly, Lamar wants this investment. We are proud of our open land, our tight-knit community, and our vision for sustainable growth. Buc-ee’s would not be intruding here—it would be invited.

While some Front Range communities are fighting to keep Buc-ee’s out, rural Coloradans are eager for the jobs, infrastructure, and tax revenue that such a major development brings. This isn’t just about gas pumps and brisket sandwiches—it’s about opportunity and a chance for southeast Colorado to be seen.

We urge Buc-ee’s CEO Arch “Beaver” Aplin III to hear us out: Lamar is not only ready, we’re excited. Bring Buc-ee’s to a place where it will be embraced—not resisted. Sign this petition to support bringing Buc-ee’s to Lamar, Colorado.
