The Issue

We are hoping to implement a similar law to "Bentley's law".

How Bentley’s Law Works
Bentley’s Law ensures convicted drunk drivers:

Pay child support to victims’ children.
Continue payments until the child turns 18 or finishes high school.
Provide financial help to ease the burden on grieving families.
By requiring child support, Bentley’s Law holds drunk drivers accountable. It also helps prevent children from facing additional financial stress after a tragic loss.

We are bringing this too light as a young mothers life was cut short due to the careless and reckless actions of a drunk driver.

Jasmine Brown is a 22-year-old mother of two who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in March of 2026, she left two young children behind. She was a light in her community and cared for everyone around her. She was leaving Ocala on her motorcycle shortly after nightfall and was rear ended by a drunk driver near mile 349 of I-75 Southbound. This caused her to be ejected and fatally injured.

This was a completely avoidable event. And now her family is struggling with the financial burden of supporting her children. Her family and friends are struggling with this loss.

Below is the statement from her Sister Sarah Brown

"Learning more about her accident, she is a victim of vehicular manslaughter by someone under the influence of alcohol. Jasmine was a sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and a MOTHER! Her birthday was March 9th. She had just turned 22 years old. At 22 years old, her life was cut short by the carelessness of someone who CHOSE to drive while drunk. Because of this individuals actions, we now have to not only bring her soul to rest but fight for justice for my sister. Her life was TAKEN in such a tragic way. We thank everyone who has offered their condolences and who has reached out and prayed for us. We appreciate everyone who loved and cared for Jasmine and helped make her life feel full of love and adventures."
