Bring Back “The Flintstones” at Lunchtime on CTV Montreal

Bring Back “The Flintstones” at Lunchtime on CTV Montreal
The Issue
For generations, children across Montreal and Quebec would come home from school, sit down for lunch, and escape into a comforting ritual: a warm meal, the company of loved ones, and one show playing across the city — The Flintstones.
I’m 36 years old, and some of my most cherished memories are of coming home, enjoying a grilled cheese or tomato soup, and watching The Flintstones on CFCF 12. For that half hour, the world paused. It was something I could depend on, for that half hour, nothing else mattered and the world stood still.
This wasn’t unique to my generation. My parents grew up with the same tradition, and countless Montrealers share this experience. It was a cultural thread that connected us — a lunchtime ritual that quietly shaped our childhoods.
But over time, things changed. Programming evolved, routines shifted, and this beloved tradition slowly disappeared.
Broadcasting The Flintstones at noon wasn’t just entertainment — it was part of Montreal’s identity. When we lose traditions like this, we risk forgetting the small joys that made our city feel like home.
This petition calls on CTV Montreal to bring back The Flintstones at 12:00 p.m. — not just for my generation, or my parents’, but for our children. Let’s give them a piece of our past they can carry forward. With no news currently airing at lunchtime, this is the perfect opportunity to restore a bit of normalcy and revive a tradition that once united us.
Let’s bring The Flintstones back to Montreal — and with it, a little piece of who we are.
