Bring Back Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan on The Pitt

Bring Back Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan on The Pitt
The Issue
It was recently announced that Supriya Ganesh would not be returning as Dr. Samira Mohan on the critically acclaimed series 'The Pitt' after season two. Sources claim this was a narrative choice - a "natural part of the revolving door at the fictional Pittsburgh teaching hospital" and a "logical next step" for her character.
In reality, this is nothing more than a poor writing choice that contains undercurrents of both misogyny and racism.
Samira Mohan is a beloved fan-favorite character. She deserves to be included in the rest of the show's overarching plot and fleshed out with a satisfying unique narrative of her own. Removing her effectively robs viewers of the chance to see her blossom. It robs Dr. Mohan of her story. And most of all, it robs Supriya of the opportunity to continue portraying an important character that is representative of multiple (often underrepresented) communities of real life individuals.
Cutting her onscreen time short is not only a disservice to her character, it is disrespectful to the fans who see themselves in her and who have dutifully followed her story from the beginning.
Fans of The Pitt are extremely disappointed to hear of this news. Collectively, we implore the showrunners and writing team for this otherwise captivating show to bring Supriya Ganesh back as Dr. Mohan in future episodes. Samira Mohan deserves better, she deserves more screentime, and she deserves to make a comeback in whatever way best suits her character yet secures her rightful place among this series' eclectic group of main characters whose stories have consistently enraptured us thus far.
Dr. Heather Collins, coincidentally also a woman of color, suffered this same supposedly "story-driven" metaphorical axing after season one. Please do not let another immensely beloved character, another woman of color who is a vital part of this ensemble cast, fall victim to the same fate.
