Bring Back Senior Quotes at Dearborn High School

Bring Back Senior Quotes at Dearborn High School
The Issue
For over a century, high school seniors have been putting quotes in their yearbooks. It is one of our oldest and most beloved traditions. It is a moment we all look forward to in our 4 years of high school.
A few years ago, that tradition was taken away. Yearbook quotes were banned after the yearbook class let something slip through. And now this sacred tradition was replaced with “next steps.” The “next steps” is an insult to the senior class. This prediction of the future does not belong in a book that is meant to celebrate our past. It is known by admin that we as seniors do not like next steps. It also diminishes the quality of our yearbook because most people either don’t fill it out or give a generic response like “go to college” or “get a job.” Yearbook quotes encourage creativity and the freedom to express oneself in an environment that is normally very constrictive.
But why now? Well it’s been over 4 years since yearbook quotes were removed. Since then, we have gotten a new yearbook teacher, new yearbook editors, a new yearbook class, and a completely new student body. We have attempted to bring back yearbook quotes and were denied of them. We need you to sign our petition so that we can show the Dearborn High School admin how much this means to us. Please spread the word to anyone you know; Other students, parents, and siblings. If we don’t get yearbook quotes approved by the end of January, no one will get a yearbook quote.
