Bring back Robot Wars #LetTheWarsBeginAgain
The Issue
With the return of BattleBots in the United Kingdom on ITV 4, there is a slowly growing audience of old and new fans of robot combat. Combined with the extraordinary success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, and demand for more investment into STEM Education due to the Atermis Program, there hasn't been a better time to get more people into the sport of robot combat.
The BBC has revived Gladiators, and yet hasn't brought this awesome show. They say, it's barbaric and inspires terrorism. How, in any way, that Robot Wars inspires terrorism as the people who are in this show are friendly and nice? It doesn't.
I know that I have strong opinions on stuff, but I care about this. I love this show with a passion along with many others and we are missing it.
- Anyone can be a roboteer: During the runs of the show, we have seen welshmen, hard men with a soft center, Cumbrians, scotsmen, women and schoolchildren create machines built for destruction, with many having jobs as engineers in other forms. However, the hobby is notorious for being expensive, but thankfully.
- Something for everyone: There are other weight classes for people to establish themselves in. With both the antweight and beetleweight class growing in popularity due to the affordable nature of it, there is a boom in this once niche hobby that is growing thanks to a certain Discovery Channel and affordable pricing.
- Plus, its helps with the mental health as well, with all round nice guy Craig Danby suffering from depression and having robot combat as a output helps him and hopefully, others as well!
- And finally, there is an international appeal to the metal mayhem. So much so that some countries made their own Robot Wars, most noticeable is Extreme Warriors hosted by Mick Foley himself and whose champion, Panzer Mk, is the only one to consistently defend it's championship during the run of a version of the show.
I urge you to sign, share and advertise it on Times Square, this petition calling for the return of Robot Wars is a great one!
