Students at Northampton are affected significantly by having to fill their class schedules in the coming years. Many students at Northampton High School will struggle to balance work and school. Having an opportunity to work is crucial to seniors; despite their parents' tax brackets, many students pay for their college education. Therefore, not only does this leave them with hefty loans that affect them for years, if not decades, into their adult lives, but lack of free time in their schedules prevents them from being able to even apply to these universities. 

If not changed before this coming school year, acceptance rates to college from Northampton students are bound to drop dramatically. With the workload given by teachers, combined with a lack of free time, when are students expected to write their essays for applications? Additionally, the recent calendar change has shortened the summer. This time is crucial for students applying for early admission, conflicting with application deadlines. If not altered, students are more inclined to a difficult life in the future. 

If we don't initiate a change in our school board's decision now, there won't be enough time to change this predicament. We need to stress our concerns now and get our point across. While the school board may not want to listen to some of our faculty members on this matter, students and parents alike can achieve change. Please use this petition as an instrument to express your concerns. By working together, there is no doubt we can find a resolution.
