Bring back MV Secondary 3 French Immersion

The Issue

For more than 30 years, the French Immersion program has existed at Massey Vanier High School. It has given anglophone children the opportunity to continue to go to English school while having their curriculum in French for Secondaries 1, 2 and 3.

Randomly, a few weeks ago, the school decided to pull the secondary 3 program, citing a necessity to get kids out of being in bubble classrooms and circulating within the larger school population. Considering this program has been a "bubble" since its inception, it seems like an inefficient answer.

Following the new QC language law, Bill 96, we should be striving to teach our kids more French, not less, while still being able to support our English language institutions. This is traditionally a high-achieving class that graduates and goes onto higher education, why curtain it?

The school and school board made this decision without properly informing parents whose children would be affected in the future.

We want a proper explanation and for the program to continue at least through secondary 3 if not beyond.

Bilingualism is an asset and should be protected!

Do you have kids going to MV, will you have kids that are going in the future?Have your kids graduated from this program? Please sign this petition to support us getting more French Immersion at Massey Vanier High School!
