Who else remembers attending Killer Bees games as a kid?
There was something special about those nights at the arena. The roar of the crowd. The buzzing of the Bees. The cold air hitting your face as you walked in, the sound of skates slicing across the ice, and the energy that lit up the entire Valley. Whether it was your first hockey game or your hundredth, there was always something electric in the air.
You might remember rushing to get autographs after the game, the intermission giveaways, or the thrill of watching a fight break out on the ice. Maybe it was the excitement of wearing your Killer Bees jersey to school the next day, or the pride of supporting a team that felt like it truly belonged to the Valley.
For many of us, those games weren’t just about hockey. They were family nights. Friend hangouts. School field trips. Community spirit. They were part of growing up here.
Let’s bring that buzz back.
Let the next generation experience what we did.
Help us bring semi-professional hockey back to Edinburg, Texas! With our city’s love for sports, available venues, and rich hockey history through the Killer Bees, the time is now to make hockey part of our community again. Sign to show Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. that the Valley wants hockey!
For years, the Rio Grande Valley was home to one of the most passionate minor league hockey teams in Texas: the Killer Bees. From thrilling games to packed arenas, hockey became more than just a sport—it became part of our culture.
Now, we're asking Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. and Edinburg city leaders to bring hockey back. Whether it's a junior-level team, a semi-professional league, or a community-run initiative, we believe Edinburg has everything it needs to support a successful team again.
We’re not asking for an NHL franchise—we’re asking for an opportunity: for our youth to have new dreams, for our families to have new memories, and for our city to have a fresh, unifying tradition.
🏒 We have the fans.
🏟 We have the venues.
📍 We have the passion.
Let's bring hockey home.
Please sign this petition and help us show city officials just how much this matters to our community.
