The Issue

Graduation is more than just a ceremony, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment that represents years of hard work, growth, and memories. For Fort Lauderdale High School students, it’s the final chapter of a journey that began as nervous freshmen and ends as confident graduates ready to take on the world.

Holding our graduation at Nova Southeastern University’s stadium has honored and enhanced the significance of that moment. Walking across a real stage in a large stadium filled with family, friends, teachers, and alumni gives students the sense of pride and accomplishment they’ve worked toward for four years. It feels like a true celebration, not just of finishing school, but of becoming something more.

With Dillard's gym, we simply cannot capture the magnitude of this milestone. Limited seating, a confined atmosphere, and a lack of ceremony take away from what should feel like a grand and unforgettable day. Graduation deserves to feel big, because the achievement is big.

Nova’s stadium allows families to attend without restrictions, lets students share the moment with everyone who supported them, and reflects the excellence and tradition of Fort Lauderdale High School. For many families, this is a moment they will remember forever, one captured in photos, videos, and stories passed down for years.

Our graduation should match the pride we have in our school, our class, and our future. We ask the administration to bring our graduation back to Nova Southeastern University, where this milestone can be celebrated with the respect, dignity, and excitement it truly deserves.
