I’m sure everyone has heard about the upset surrounding the lovely Punch & Judy man Brent, who has been coming to Broadstairs for nearly 30 years! He travels all over the world but chooses to come to Broadstairs every summer to provide fun and entertainment. We are so very lucky to have this lovely man providing Punch & Judy shows every single day of the summer and 3 times a day!

Broadstairs & St Peter’s Town Council along with TDC normally facilitate this and even though he contacted the Town Council back in January to arrange all of the paperwork, nothing was put in place for him. He was told by a TDC official that he was ok to come and perform as usual but on his 1st day, a TDC Enforcement officer came down and ordered him off the beach. He didn’t have the necessary paperwork!

Subsequently we have discovered that the Town Council have decided in their ‘wisdom’ to pay for a new Punch & Judy and person to take his place. This is only for 8 days during the whole of August, and is ‘free’ to the public.

Meanwhile TDC and the Town Council are doing nothing to put this right.

How is this fair and just, on someone who has been providing such marvellous shows for the last 30 years? We risk losing Brent and his fantastic shows forever, if this isn’t resolved very quickly.
