The Issue

AIDAN, a local singer-songwriter, was disqualified from Malta Eurovision 2023, and his disqualification was announced without providing the necessary details in a timely manner by the national broadcaster, PBS, to generate clickbait. The unnecessary delay between the announcement and the (vague) clarification did not only put AIDAN's career, reputation and mental health in jeopardy but also challenged the integrity of the competition.

AIDAN has shown incredible effort and dedication throughout the competition and their disqualification was a huge disappointment for both him and his fans locally and internationally.

We, the supporters of AIDAN, believe that the disqualification is unjustified and that the artist deserves a fair and transparent evaluation process. We also believe that PBS’s regulations are rigid and restrictive, as they prevent local artists from promoting their art freely and without fear of being persecuted

We, therefore, call on PBS to:

  • Bring back AIDAN to Malta Eurovision 2023
  • Provide a fair and transparent evaluation process for all the participants.
  • Revisit and revise their regulations going forward to allow local artists to promote their art freely and without fear of being persecuted.

By signing this petition, you are showing your support for AIDAN and your belief in the importance of allowing local artistic talent their creative freedom. We hope that this petition will help promote transparency and fairness in the evaluation process and encourage the national broadcaster to uplift, and not restrict, their artists when it comes to the biggest musical platform Malta has to offer.

Please share this petition with your friends and family, and let's make our voices heard. Together, we can make a difference, bring back AIDAN to Malta Eurovision 2023, and give local artists the freedom to share and promote their art without fear of retaliation.
