At the executive committee meeting on Tuesday Falkirk Council undertook to notify parents of nursery-aged children of their places by the end of this week. On enquiring if the early years team remained on track to do so, the following response was received:

"We were on track to send letters for ELC Classes only for it to be pulled on Wednesday night. We are now being told we have to wait until Scottish Government make their announcement on 31st July. This is when John Swinney will confirm the re-opening of schools/nurseries and if 100% or 50%."

It is understood that this is simply a delay in places being confirmed, subject to no sudden increase in the Covid infection rate amending the Scottish Government's plans to re-open schools and nurseries full-time in August, which is not anticipated.
