Bring a Safe Haven Baby Box to College Station, Texas

Petition to the College Station City Council, College Station Fire Department, and Community Leaders

Every infant deserves a chance to live, and every parent in crisis deserves a safe, legal, and anonymous option when they feel they have nowhere else to turn.

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the City of College Station to partner with the Safe Haven Baby Boxes program to install a Safe Haven Baby Box at a staffed fire station or other approved location.

A Safe Haven Baby Box provides:

A secure, anonymous way for a parent to legally surrender a newborn under Texas Safe Haven law.
Immediate notification to emergency personnel when a baby is placed inside, ensuring prompt medical care.
An opportunity to prevent infant abandonment and save lives.
Communities across Texas have already implemented Safe Haven Baby Boxes, demonstrating that they can be a valuable addition to existing Safe Haven protections.

We ask the City of College Station to:

Explore the installation of a Safe Haven Baby Box at a 24-hour staffed fire station.
Work with the Safe Haven Baby Boxes organization to evaluate costs, training, and implementation.
Partner with local hospitals, first responders, and community organizations to educate the public about Texas Safe Haven laws and available resources.
This petition is not only about installing a Baby Box—it is about ensuring that every newborn has a safe option and every parent facing an overwhelming crisis knows there is help available.
