Bring a Direct Port Liberté → Midtown Ferry Route to Our Community
The Issue
Residents of Oliver on the Hudson, Port Liberté, and the surrounding Jersey City waterfront rely on the Port Liberté ferry terminal for our commute into Manhattan. The ferry is fast, reliable, and refreshingly free of traffic delays — one of the best reasons to live here.
But there's a gap. Today the Port Liberté terminal offers only one route: to Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan. For the many of us who work in Midtown, that means a longer, more expensive trip — a transfer to the 2 or 3 subway line that adds roughly 25–30 minutes and an extra fare each way, every workday.
A Midtown / West 39th Street ferry terminal already exists and is served by NY Waterway. We're simply asking for a route that connects our terminal to it.
Our neighborhood is growing quickly. Oliver on the Hudson is brand new, Port Liberté continues to expand, and more residents arrive every month — a large and rising share of them commuting to Midtown. The demand is here today and will only increase.
We respectfully ask NY Waterway to add a direct Port Liberté ↔ Midtown / West 39th Street route. Or at least extend the existing Midtown / West 39th Street ↔ Paulus Hook route to Port Liberté. It would save residents time and money, make our growing waterfront community more accessible, and add reliable ridership to a corridor that clearly needs it.
If you live, work, or commute through our community — or simply support better transit options for Jersey City's waterfront — please sign and share. Every signature helps demonstrate the demand.
