Bridging The Gap To Break The Cycle

Bridging The Gap To Break The Cycle
The issue
"End the Cycle of Trauma: Bring Holistic Healing to WA Prisons & Detention Centres"
The System is Broken, but the People Don't Have to Be.
In Western Australia, our prisons and detention centres are full of people who have been failed by the system long before they ever stepped into a cell. At Harmony Haven, we believe in a simple philosophy: "Bridging the gap to break the cycle." Currently, the justice system focuses on punishment, but punishment without healing only leads to more trauma. When our loved ones—our sons, daughters, and brothers—are released without mental health tools or emotional support, they are being set up to fail.
I have spent months knocking on the doors of government agencies and prison departments, offering our holistic wellness programs. These programs are designed to heal the "inner child," provide emotional literacy, and build a foundation for a new life.
The response? Silence. We are starting this petition because we are tired of the silence. We are tired of seeing our families torn apart by a revolving door of incarceration. We are demanding that the WA Department of Justice and the Minister for Corrective Services stop ignoring community-led solutions.
3. Our Demands (What We Want to Change)
We call on the Western Australian Government to:
Grant Access: Allow Harmony Haven and other community-led wellness facilitators into prisons and detention centres to run holistic mental health pilots.
Fund Prevention & Healing: Redirect a portion of the corrections budget toward holistic rehabilitation that focuses on breaking intergenerational trauma.
Collaborate with Community: Work alongside organizations like SWAMS and Harmony Haven to ensure programs are culturally safe and community-driven.
Support Re-entry: Ensure that every individual has a mental health and wellness plan in place before they are released back into our community.
4. The Closing Statement
"Healing is a right, not a privilege. By signing this petition, you are telling the government that our loved ones are worth the investment. You are choosing healing over punishment. You are helping us Bridge the Gap."
