On March 7th, the residents of the City of Port Wentworth were made aware of a "invitation only" event by the current Mayor Gary Norton and current council member Glenn Jones. This meeting was to inform people that they have been working with local state representatives to dissolve the city charter of the City of Port Wentworth. We the aforementioned residents do not agree with this. We WANT our city to remain a city! We DO NOT want to be dissolved and absorbed by Chatham County. Ever since the new duly elected members of council have started the mayor and others have been blocking progress and refusing to attend meetings. In our opinion these two have committed an act of malfeasance or misconduct while in office,violation of the oath of office, and failure to perform duties prescribed by law. Any one of these can result in a recall. We are asking you to stop this charter dissolution and explore the possibilities of a recall.  We need Government that works together not against each other. This is important to all the residents and visitors to the City of Port Wentworth.
