Bill Hitchens is an American politician and former law enforcement officer hailing from Georgia. As a Republican, he has been serving in the Georgia House of Representatives for the 161st District since 2012. Hitchens boasts a distinguished career in public service and law enforcement. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Georgia Southern University. His extensive experience includes serving as the Director of the Georgia Office of Homeland Security, a Consultant at the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and the Executive Director at the G-8 Public Safety Command. Additionally, he has held roles such as Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety, Trooper/Major at the Georgia State Patrol, and Commander in both the United States Marine Corps and Coast Guard Reserve.
