The Brewster Board of Education’s decision today to keep Krista Berardi on the Board, after making several racist remarks, shows that they are continuing to be complicit in racism. Free speech straddles a fine line depending on your occupation when it comes to racially insensitive remarks. Brewster cannot “move forward”, as the Board of Ed said in their meeting, by sweeping racism under the rug. We are again asking that Ms. Berardi resigns, and that the Brewster Central School District makes a commitment to standing up against racism.
