The Issue

Thousands of women around the world report experiencing a collection of symptoms known as Breast Implant Illness (BII), including chronic fatigue, joint and muscle pain, brain fog, anxiety, hair loss, sleep disturbances, and autoimmune-like symptoms.

Many patients describe years of suffering while searching for answers, often being told their symptoms are unrelated to their implants because Breast Implant Illness is not widely recognized as a formal medical diagnosis. Yet many women report significant improvement after having their implants removed, raising important questions that deserve serious scientific attention.

The lack of standardized diagnostic criteria can leave patients feeling unheard and can make it more difficult for healthcare providers to identify, study, and treat these symptoms consistently. Recognition of Breast Implant Illness would not mean that every symptom is caused by implants, nor would it mean that every person with implants will become ill. Instead, recognition would encourage further research, improve patient education, support informed consent, and help healthcare professionals better evaluate and care for those experiencing unexplained symptoms.

Patients deserve to have their concerns taken seriously. By signing this petition, you are supporting greater awareness, increased research funding, improved reporting of adverse events, and the development of clear diagnostic guidelines for Breast Implant Illness. Recognition is an important step toward ensuring that patients receive the validation, investigation, and care they need.

No patient should have to suffer in uncertainty. Help us advocate for better research, better recognition, and better healthcare for those affected by Breast Implant Illness.
