Dear Friends,
Thank you for every ounce of time, passion, and energy you’ve poured into the effort to Save Hyde Park Square. Your voices have been powerful, your commitment unwavering, and your love for this community undeniable.
This week has been hard. Like many of you, we felt heartbroken by the decision and stunned by the clear disregard some City Officials showed for the people they were elected to serve.
We entered conversations with hope – believing that reason and community values could sway the vote. Unfortunately, it’s now evident that some minds were never open.
But let’s be clear: this is not the end. It is the beginning of the next chapter.
We came together. We stood up. We spoke out. And now, we prepare to act where it matters most—at the ballot box this November.
We are already gathering information on the upcoming elections, researching candidates who genuinely believe in citizen engagement and the role of neighborhood councils, transparency, accountability, and the preservation of our neighborhoods. We will share everything we learn and welcome your feedback.
For those interested, there is a great deal to do between now and November. There are roles for all who want to be involved, regardless of the amount of time, experience, and availability.
Working together in the weeks and months ahead, we will be ready, informed, and united when it’s time to vote. More details coming soon.
Many of you have also asked about the possibility of legal action. The attorneys are the clients of Hyde Park Neighborhood Council, not our grassroots organization, Save Hyde Park Square. So we don’t yet have news to share on potential legal action, but we promise to keep you updated as soon as we’re able.
This movement is far from over. If anything, it has only made us stronger and more connected. Thank you for standing with us—and for refusing to be silenced.
With deep gratitude and unshaken resolve,
The Save Hyde Park Square Team
