Show up and Speak Out! TOMORROW, April 23, 2025 at 1 PM City Hall. A quick reference guide for tomorrow is listed below. If you cannot join, but want to do something, please click here!
Share this information! Many of our neighbors only know that "something is going on" and they do not know the scale of the proposed project!
(NOTE: If the committee votes in favor of the developer tomorrow, a second vote will take place on Wednesday, April 24 at the weekly Cincinnati Council Meeting, 2 PM.)
BUT FIRST, TOMORROW...
Arrive early so you can sign your speaker card! THERE IS A TWO-MINUTE SPEAKING LIMIT!
* We believe a few Council members are on the fence, so it is extremely important that we have a large crowd of attendees and speakers both tomorrow and Wednesday.
Please speak about what you are most passionate about, but here are some ideas that might resonate, based on our conversations with City Council members:
1) Tell them you WILL be voting in the fall based on how they vote today – and so will thousands of others. Tell them they will lose the trust of their electorate city-wide if they vote for this development.
2) Remind them that there is NO TRUST with this developer and provide specific reasons why. Some ideas:
3) Convince them they do NOT need a hotel. The only thing they cannot do under existing zoning codes is build a hotel.
4) Tell them that a “yes” vote today encourages developers NOT to engage with neighborhoods in the future. And you will face A LOT more neighborhood fights.
5) Remind City Council that they have publicly stated they want to build AFFORDABLE HOUSING. This is NOT affordable housing.
6) Debunk some of the statements that were made in editorials in the paper (including one that was written by Heather Pine, who we are 99% sure is married to Anna Albi’s staffer Josh Pine.) The links to some of these editorials are below:
7) If you have a personal connection to Hyde Park School or Knox Presbyterian, discuss this development’s proximity to Hyde Park School and how we need to be sure this development does NOT put schoolchildren in danger.
8) If you don’t have time to make a new statement, read the letter you sent to City Council. They’ve gotten HUNDREDS, and most Council members rely on their staff to read them. So repeating the message could be valuable.
IMPORTANT: Despite the temptation to clap or boo, please be SILENT at these meetings. If we are not, City Council WILL shut the comment portion of the meeting down. Mark Jeffreys has stated that emphatically.
Once again, thank you for all your efforts to Save Hyde Park Square!
LET'S GO!!!
The Save Hyde Park Square team
P.S. Please share this information! Many of our neighbors do not know the scale of the proposed project. Let's make sure everyone is informed and has the opportunity to speak up!
