Lincoln's Story- A Call for Accountability and Safer Schools

Lincoln’s story was not the reason this petition was started—it was the final straw.

On a recent school field trip, Lincoln was subjected to a humiliating act of bullying.  Two students threw his hat into a toilet containing feces, locked him in the bus bathroom, forced his head toward the toilet, and when he resisted, rubbed toilet paper from the toilet across his face.

He came home devastated—crying, humiliated, and covered in feces.

No child should ever have to experience something like that.

As heartbreaking as Lincoln’s experience is, it is not an isolated incident. Since sharing this petition, we have heard from hundreds of parents, former students, and community members who have described years of bullying, repeated concerns brought forward, and experiences where they feel more could have been done to protect students.

That is why this petition exists.

It is not about one incident.

It is not about one student.

It is not about one family.

It is about a pattern that many families say has existed for years, and a community that is asking for meaningful change.

We are asking for accountability, transparency, and a commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe environment.

Lincoln’s story gave a voice to so many others who had remained silent. His courage has encouraged families across our community to come forward with their own experiences.

This petition is for Lincoln.

It is for every child who has ever been afraid to go to school.

It is for every parent who has felt unheard while trying to protect their child.

We cannot change what happened to Lincoln, but together, we can work to ensure no other child has to endure the same experience.
