Boys Plaques destroyed
The issue
Hello everyone,
Following the loss of my sons, Ryan (22) in 2008 and Wade (19) in 2009, my son Matt and I worked with the City of Mandurah to have memorial plaques installed on the wooden benches at Binnies Beach.
For 15 years, these plaques provided a special place for family and friends to sit, reflect, and remember the boys, as well as the deep connection they had to that beach. Their ashes were also scattered there, making it an especially meaningful place for those who loved them.
Unfortunately, the recent storms destroyed the benches, along with many others along the coast. Thankfully, the plaques were recovered and are now in our possession. We had hoped to reinstall them on the new benches due to be installed, however the City of Mandurah has declined our request.
We are asking the council to reconsider this decision and allow the plaques to be returned to the place that has held such significance for our family and community for the past 15 years.
If you have a spare two minutes, we would be incredibly grateful if you could sign this petition. It would mean so much to Matt and me, and to all of Ryan and Wade’s family and friends.
Thank you for your support.
