As Donald Trump ramps up his appalling language on Ukraine and Gaza, his threats to take over Greenland and parts of Panama and his assault on global trade it is increasingly obvious that appeasement does not work 

To be fair It never does 

The rest of the world has to stand up to this bully and the football world could show it has balls by refusing to participate in the 2026 World Cup which is set to be played in the US

Whilst this, on its own is unlikely to stop Trump it would be a huge embarrassment to the US and would represent a great show of solidarity with the poor people who now find themselves in peril as a result of the cruel policies of the Trump administration 

I love football but I love fairness and decency more and would feel proud to be part of a peaceful protest on this scale leveraging the global unifying reach of sport
