Boycott Norway to Stop Rampant Antisemitism

Boycott Norway to Stop Rampant Antisemitism
The Issue
An ugly resurgence of antisemitism. Please help Jews in Norway and sign the petition.
Norway's government has emerged as the most vocal opponent of Israel after the terror attack on October 7th, and along with it, there has been an ugly resurgence of antisemitism and Jewish hatred toward the small population of around 2000 Jews who currently reside in Norway.
"Unfortunately, the situation is very worrying. We haven't seen such an aggressive wave of antisemitism since World War II," said Rabbi Joav Melchior to Israeli Ynet.news. He is the chief rabbi of the Jewish community in Oslo.
Jews thinking of leaving Norway
Rabbi Melchior says that many friends in the Jewish community explicitly say they are contemplating whether they want to continue living in Norway, especially after the recent period.
Rabbi Melchior also highlighted the effects of Muslim immigration on Norway, noting an increase in antisemitism and hostility toward Israel among the Muslim population.
Hatred coming from the left and Muslims
In a recent survey after October 7th, Jewish people in Oslo were asked whom they received antisemitism and hostility from. Five percent answered someone with a right-wing point of view, 48 % answered someone with a left-wing point of view, and 63 % responded that it was someone with a Muslim background.
Bias media coverage
In the same survey, Norwegian Jews responded almost unanimously that the media coverage of the terrorist attack and Israel's attack on Gaza is very unbalanced in Norway.
94.6 % say they experience it as unbalanced in favor of the Palestinians. And of them, 96.9 percent answered that this media coverage has made life more difficult for Jews in Norway.
The survey summary:
They are few. They are scared. They receive threats. They remove symbols that show their background. Many do not consider Norway a safe country anymore.
Man beaten for carrying Israel flag
A recent example is on Women's Day, March 8th, 2024. A man with a Jewish flag was beaten so severely in the city of Sandefjord that he ended up in the hospital.
At the start of the women's parade in Oslo, organizers refused a group of 30-50 Jewish and Norwegian women to participate. Several of the women are said to have been subjected to physical discomfort and were called "Whores!" "Child killers!" and "Pests!".
We urge a boycott of Norway
To stop the rampant antisemitism and persecution of Jews in Norway, we urge Americans and the rest of the world to boycott Norway and make their voices heard.
Elisabeth is Norwegian and resides in the United States. Once proud of her heritage, she is now ashamed of being Norwegian.
Regular Norwegians are appalled
Please know that the antisemitism is coming from the leftist government, the leftist media, and the Muslims in the country. The Palestinian committee in Norway has a considerable influence and is also complicit in the Jewish hatred in the country.
A large majority of regular upstanding Norwegians are as appalled as we are.
Norway is not a tolerant nation
We must put a stop to this outrageous hatred happening in a country most people think is a democratic, peaceful, tolerant nation. It is not.
Below are examples of anti-Israel and antisemitic conduct from the government, politicians, state media, universities, state-owned liquor stores, grocery stores, police, and the justice system.
Please help Jews in Norway and sign the petition
When we have enough signatures, we will contact them with the results and demand that they stop the madness.
Again, please sign the petition and do everything you can to boycott Norway and tell them to stop harassing the Jewish people of Norway.
Norwegian Government and Politicians
Norway has repeatedly refused to recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre refused and, when criticized, admitted they were an organization that carried out terror. He still could not call them out as a terror organization.
"How many Jews must Hamas kill before Støre calls them terrorists?" Asked Vebjørn Selbekk, editor-in-chief, in Dagen.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide has made particularly harsh statements against Israel. At the Cairo Summit for Peace, two weeks after October 7, Eide was the only Western foreign minister who condemned Israel without calling for the release of hostages held in Gaza.
Former Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt also refused to call Hamas a terror organization after the attack. She is now appointed to be Norway's ambassador in Washington, DC.
Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide compared Israel to Russia on three occasions, stating that Europe loses credibility when it does not condemn Israel for the same actions it blames Russia for.
Barth Eide blocked the king of Norway from sending a letter of condolence to Israel following the October 7 attack.
Norway has expressed support for South Africa's petition against Israel in the International Court of Justice and refuses to recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization.
Norway, as the only Nordic country, voted for a resolution in the UN that advocated a ceasefire without mentioning the hostages or Hamas.
Norway is among UNRWA's most prominent supporters, although some of them are accused of having participated in the massacres on October 7.
Recently, the government advised Norwegian companies against trading with illegal Israeli settlements. The Norwegian government never considers boycotts against countries such as Iran, China, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and other human rights abusive countries.
Norway has a hate speech law, but it is not equal for all
In November, an Israel flag with a swastika hung from a silo in Oslo. The same day, a pro-Palestinian mob trampled and spat on a similar flag in downtown Oslo.
The police dropped the investigation of both cases and said it did not fall under the hate law because it was directed at Israel, not the Jews.
In 2019 three Norwegian men were arrested in Stavanger, charged under the hate law, and fined for flying a nazi flag.
None of the disruptive pro-Palestinians are arrested or charged with crimes. As in the United States, they are allowed to harass and disturb the peace, and nobody lifts a finger.

Antisemitism in Norway’s Media
The editor-in-chief of Dagen, Vebjørn Selbekk, asked in an opinion in February how Norway became Europe's most Israel-critical country. He had the answers:
NRK's Middle East correspondent Sidsel Wold and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide have a significant responsibility.
NRK is a state-owned news organization funded by taxpayers. It is known for its anti-Israel, pro-Palestine, pro-Islam, and antisemitic viewpoints.
Criticism of Israel in Norway can sometimes feel overwhelming, Selbekk believes. "It is quite evident that opinion-makers in the media and politics have a significant influence," he wrote.
NRK's Yama Wolasmal, a Muslim from Afghanistan is the leading reporter for the coverage of the ongoing war. He supports one side, and it is not Israel or the Jews.
All other mainstream media in Norway follow in NRKs footsteps and are very biased towards Israel and the Jewish people.
Government-run liquor stores and grocery stores
Vinmonopolet (English: The Wine Monopoly), is a government-owned alcoholic beverage retailer and the only company allowed to sell beverages containing an alcohol content higher than 4.75% in Norway.
After the government's advice to not trade with illegal Israeli settlements. the Vinmonopolet's board has decided to stop the distribution and sale of products from Israeli settlements. These are six products from the Golan Heights and the West Bank.
Many grocery stores have stopped selling products from Israel. Coop recently dropped potatoes from Israel, which has long been Norway's most critical import country for new potatoes. This year, Coop is getting potatoes from other countries. According to the grocery chain, this is solely about commercial considerations. We know it's not. It blatant antisemitism.
Norwegian Universities
"Please Boycott My Country", wrote the Norwegian professor Torkel Brekke in a commentary in the Wall Street Journal:
"I am deeply concerned about having to state that a modern form of anti-Semitism is spreading in my own country."
Brekke writes that the poisonous ideology is a threat to Jews everywhere.
Five Norwegian universities have suspended ties with Israeli universities. Brekke encourages American universities to counter-boycott.
"American universities should consider conducting counter-boycotts against foreign universities that seek to isolate Israel. Choosing Norway will be a good start."
Our petition urges all countries' universities to boycott Norway.
List of universities in Norway and their decision to boycott Israel
The list is derived from the antisemitic hate group BDS, but it is correct.
OsloMet ended ties with Haifa University, pledged not to enter into any new agreements with complicit Israeli universities, and will work to end procurement contracts with suppliers linked to Israel's military or illegal settlements.
The university board condemns Israel's attack on Gaza.”
The University of South Eastern Norway ended ties with Haifa University and Hadassah Academic College.
“We want to give a clear message that the warfare that...Israel is now carrying out in Gaza is unacceptable, and undermines the democratic foundation on which all universities must build.”
The University of Bergen ended its cooperation agreements with Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design after it created a workshop on campus to design and sew uniforms and gear for the Israeli military.
The Bergen School of Architecture also ended its cooperation agreements with Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design over its work with the Israeli military.
Nord University has suspended existing agreements with complicit Israeli universities and pledged not enter into any new collaborations.
The Norwegian Students Union has called for an end to "academic collaboration with actors who contribute to legitimizing oppressive regimes and human rights abuses."
The University of Oslo Student Senate has called to "end all institutional cooperation with Israeli academic institutions and companies that contribute to and support occupation, apartheid, illegal settlements and war crimes"
