Women, and those who believe in women, cannot ignore Nike trying to erase women. Countless dynamic women, yet they choose a male? Courageous people have fought long and hard for women’s rights - across race, religion, gender, political party & orientation - both rich & poor, for women to be recognized for their intelligence, athleticism, leadership. Apparently, only men have the right to accept / reject the need to reduce women to sexual products or one -size- fits- all concept of femininity? We of every type of accomplishment (athletic, academic, political, professional, personal, etc.), every body type, every fashion choice, every perception of beauty, proudly stand together as women.

All people across the globe, of all ages and backgrounds are borne by women. Womanhood is fundamental inclusion; every race, all ‘abled’ and ‘other abled’, are borne by women and share the XX chromosome.

Let’s be clear: Nike is trying to erase women. It is misogyny in its purist form. It is not inclusion, it is obliteration. It is not protection of LGBTQ rights. It is mocking the validity of being female, it is putting gay men at risk of further ostracism. Men such as Mulvaney are perpetuating a systematic erasure of women, for cash, period. Selecting male individuals as ‘Women of the Year’ is dismissive of all women. 

Nike is leading the destruction of respect for, and protection of, all women. Women already accept males dressing however they wish, using female names, behaving in culturally perceived ‘feminine ways’. Women however,!will not be bullied into allowing males to ’appoint’ other males as women - let alone normalize the insult of men as ‘representing women.’

Every person, regardless of how they choose to live and perceive themselves, need to stand against any entity that negates, rejects, bullies and obliterates women.
