Boycott Facebook for a week, to force change
The Issue
Facebook has indicated that it's considering changes to its policies, when it comes to misleading posts and the propagation of hate on the platform. However, almost in the seem breath, Mark Zuckerberg, is fighting tooth and nails to keep similar posts alive on Facebook.
Mr. Zuckerberg claims his platform is now the vanguard of free speech and the guardian of First Amendment Right online. Let's applaud him for his intentions and accelerate his decision making by boycotting Facebook for a week. This act will jolt Facebook into action, to do what is right: tag, fact-check, and pull down posts that are intended to spew hate, to misinform, and to promote violence. This boycott action is just a modest effort to help Mark Zuckerberg make up his mind, quickly.
To paraphrase a popular saying, "when you dance with a blind person, it's a good idea to step on his/her toes-every now and then-to indicate you're still there". If Mr. Zuckerberg values one audience over another, it's time that he hears from the aggrieved side. Save democracy. Disengage with Facebook, for a week, to be heard loud and clear.
